This year, Victoria Day is May 18th. One of the oldest, non-religious holidays in Canada, it honours Queen Victoria’s birthday (May 24, 1819), who was the reigning monarch when Canada became a country in 1867.
Today, obviously, we aren’t as attached to the ‘England’ factor, but it’s certainly a great reason to celebrate the start of a summer feeling. Fortunately, the weather has been cooperating.
If you’re looking for the main public fireworks display in Toronto tonight, the big one is at Ashbridges Bay Park. They start at 10:00 PM and usually run about 10–15 minutes. Best viewing is along the Beaches boardwalk from Coxwell to Victoria Park.
